TimesMachine provides searchable and browsable page scans of every issue of The New York Times published between 1851 and 2002.

Articles from 1851-1980 are also available as PDF downloads for personal use. You are allowed up to 100 downloads per month.

It is available to you for free, but you need to sign up for access to New York Times first. To do this, click this link to sign up for New York Times.

Access Times Machine:

Go to https://timesmachine.nytimes.com/browser

Search:

To search you can click on the magnifying glass on the top right corner of the page or you can browse individual issues of the paper by selecting a date in the select an issue box near the bottom center of the page.
