How do I place a hold on a book for pickup?

How do I place a hold on a book that is checked out? The book I'm looking for is not on the shelf, what do I do? What do I do if I can't locate a book? How do I find a missing book?

Answer

You can request a book be held for you to pick up at the Circulation Desk or in one of our Book Lockers by following the steps below.

If a book cannot be located on the library shelves, place a hold on the book, and library staff will search for it and email you with an updated status.

Placing a Hold

To place a hold:

  1. Find the book OneSearch
  2. Sign in for more options using your @sdsu email address and associated password
  3. Click: Place a Hold on this Item
  4. Specify your pick up location and Send Request

You will get an email when the book is ready to pick up at your selected location.

Book Lockers

The SDSU Library Book Lockers are a convenient, contactless way for users to pick up materials. SDSU students, faculty, and staff can request material in OneSearch for Book Locker Pickup.

Once the items are placed in the locker, the user will receive an email with pickup details, and the items can be picked up any day, any time for 7 days. Book Lockers are located between Love Library and the Dome.
