Does the library have my textbook?

Answer

The library doesn't typically purchase textbooks but professors will sometimes place a copy of the textbook for a class on course reserve. The SDSU Library Course Reserves collection which includes textbooks and some course materials are available at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Library Addition (Dome). These materials can be checked out for a limited time (loan period will vary depending on the item).

You can check if the library has the books you need on Course Reserve here:  https://reserves.calstate.edu/sandiego/

To see if there are books or materials in Course Reserves for your course:

  1. ""Click on Find in the top navigation bar on the library website
  2. Select Course Reserves
  3.  Enter either your course code or your instructor's last name in the search box
  4. Look for your instructor or course section and click on the link
  5. Check the availability and make note of how long you can check the item out
  6. Head to the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Library Addition just below the dome and check out the book
  7. Return it to Circulation when it is due so others can use it.
