Duo stopped working, what do I do?

Support for Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at SDSU.

Answer

Duo stopped working, what do I do?

This can happen, usually when you get a new device, change your number, or even when you update.  If the number is the same, please follow the directions found here to reactivate your current device or enroll a new device to the same number:  Duo Troubleshooting - Changing Phones/Reactivating Devices

If your number changed, you will need a bypass code to get into your Duo Portal account to enroll the new device and number.  If you did not generate any bypass codes on your own, then please come in or chat with us.  See user support below.

Watch Out for Fraudulent Duo MFA Requests

A fraudulent MFA request is one you receive that was initiated by someone else trying to sign in as you. Only approve MFA requests you initiate yourself, knowingly and intentionally. Depending on the method of authentication, if you suspect you are receiving a fraudulent MFA request, hang up, deny the request, or do not enter the provided passcode. Report the fraudulent attempt immediately to security@sdsu.edu.

Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at SDSU

The CSU Chancellor's office has mandated that faculty, staff, and students are required to use Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to access SDSU technology services in order to protect personal identity, intellectual property, and to enhance security. Faculty, staff, and students can begin using Duo MFA by completing the Duo MFA Enrollment. Learn more by visiting the SDSU Duo support page
